IPL Match 9-11 : What We Missed

IPL Match 9 MI Vs. GT

Gujarat Titans opened their account on the IPL 2025 Points Table with a commanding victory over Mumbai Indians in Match No. 9. Playing at Ahmedabad on Saturday, March 29, GT set a target of 197 after being put in to bat. Their bowlers then delivered a disciplined performance, restricting MI to 160/6 and securing a convincing 36-run win.

Gujarat Titans’ top order got off to a fantastic start, with captain Shubman Gill setting the tone with some elegant strokes. His opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, continued the momentum, while wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler made a strong statement at No. 3, stamping his authority for the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the Indian Premier League.

Gill, Sai, Jos Trio

Gill set the tone with a confident 38-run knock, making the most of the powerplay to capitalize on field restrictions. Jos Buttler followed up with an aggressive 39 off 24 balls, finding the boundary with ease. However, the standout performance came from Sai Sudharsan, who anchored the innings with a well-crafted half-century, featuring four boundaries and two sixes. While the rest of the lineup couldn’t contribute significantly, their efforts proved more than enough to seal the victory.

The Pace Duo : Siraj & Prasidh

Mohammed Siraj, renowned for his ability to strike early, delivered once again by dismissing the dangerous Rohit Sharma on just the fourth ball of the innings. He further showcased his effectiveness by removing Ryan Rickelton in the same spell, providing Gujarat Titans with crucial breakthroughs. While Siraj set the tone upfront, Prasidh Krishna took charge in the middle overs, delivering a brilliant spell. He conceded just 17 runs in his four overs and picked up two key wickets—Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav. His impactful performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

MI Losses Another

Saturday’s defeat marked Mumbai Indians’ second consecutive loss under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, leaving them still searching for their first points of the season. After a disappointing defeat to arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in the El Clasico last Sunday, their fortunes didn’t improve six days later. MI will now look to turn things around as they face defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their first home game of the season at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

IPL Match 10 SRH Vs. DC

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), one of the most popular franchises, faced off against hosts Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 10 of the ongoing IPL 2025 in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 30. After winning the toss, captain Pat Cummins opted to bat first.

However, SRH struggled with regular wickets falling and were eventually bowled out for 163. Young all-rounder Aniket Verma played a sensational knock of 74 off just 41 balls, rescuing his team after an early collapse at 37/4 in the fifth over.

Aniket to the Rescue

Aniket Verma’s crucial 77-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen helped Sunrisers Hyderabad recover from their early collapse. During his thrilling knock, Verma capitalized on multiple dropped catches, making the most of his chances to put the opposition under pressure.

Pacer Mitchell Starc was the chief destroyer, striking thrice during the powerplay. He once again dismissed Travis Head cheaply, reinforcing his dominance over the explosive batter. Starc went on to complete a sensational five-wicket haul (5/35). Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav played a key role with his spin, weaving a web around the SRH batters and finishing with impressive figures of 3/22.

Delhi Openers Looks in Fine Touch

In response to the chase, Delhi Capitals’ openers, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis, got off to a blazing start. The duo hammered 81 runs in just 9.1 overs, laying a strong foundation for the hosts. While McGurk fell short of his half-century, scoring 38 off 32 balls, Du Plessis looked in fine touch, reaching his fifty in just 27 balls before being dismissed by the young Zeeshan Ansari.

DC Boasts A Strong Batting Lineup

Building on the momentum set by the openers, the rest of the Delhi Capitals’ batting lineup continued to dominate the SRH bowlers. KL Rahul, making his comeback, delighted the crowd with a quickfire 15 off just 5 balls. In the end, Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs comfortably guided the hosts to victory, sealing a commanding seven-wicket win in the 16th over.

IPL Match CSK Vs. RR

When MS Dhoni is on strike in the final over of a run chase, fans often expect a thrilling finish, given his legendary track record. However, a tactical bowling change by Riyan Parag—opting for Sandeep Sharma over Jofra Archer for the 20th over—proved to be a masterstroke for the hosts. Rajasthan Royals clinched a convincing victory in Match 11 of IPL 2025 at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati.

Batting first, RR posted 182/9 after being put in by CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Noor Ahmad reclaimed the Purple Cap from Mitchell Starc, who had briefly held it following his five-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 10. In response, CSK struggled after Rachin Ravindra’s first-over duck, with pressure mounting throughout the innings. In the end, they fell just short—one big hit away from turning the game around.

Nitish Rana Set the Tone for RR

Losing Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over was a significant early blow, but Nitish Rana stepped up in style. The Delhi-born batter took charge, ensuring that if Yashasvi faltered, he would be at his very best.

Facing just 36 deliveries, Rana powered his way to a stunning 81-run knock, featuring ten boundaries and five towering sixes. His explosive innings proved to be the game-changer, setting the perfect platform for Riyan Parag’s side and ultimately making the crucial difference between CSK and victory.

Hasaranga Comes into the Party

Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga couldn’t make the most of his promotion with the bat, but his leg-spin proved to be a nightmare for the Chennai batters. In a remarkable pattern, he was hit for a six in each of his four overs, only to dismiss a batter on the very next delivery.

Hasaranga tore through CSK’s lineup, claiming the prized scalps of Shivam Dube, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Vijay Shankar. His signature ‘Pushpa’ celebration was on full display after every wicket, as he set the stage ablaze with a fiery spell.

Sandeep Sharma Vs. MS Dhoni

It was a clash of experience and resilience—legendary MS Dhoni vs the underrated Sandeep Sharma. With CSK needing 20 runs off the final over, the stage was set for a classic Dhoni finish. Sandeep began with a slower bouncer that was called wide, but his first legal delivery proved decisive.

Dhoni swung his bat with intent, only to be caught at long-on, shattering the hopes of millions—both in the stands and watching from home. While the next five balls yielded 12 runs, the damage was already done, as CSK fell short by six runs in a heartbreaking finish.
