IPL Match 13 LSG Vs. PBKS
LSG secured their second consecutive victory with a commanding eight-wicket win, finishing the match with 22 balls to spare. They now sit second on the points table, just behind table-toppers RCB.
The Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) notched up another impressive win in Match 13 of IPL 2025, defeating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a one-sided contest. Batting first at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, LSG posted 171/7 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to explosive middle-order performances from Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran.
Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh set the tone with a three-wicket haul before the batters took charge in the chase. Despite the early loss of opener Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh kept the momentum going with an aggressive approach. Skipper Shreyas Iyer then stepped in and sealed the victory in style, smashing a massive six over long-on to complete Punjab’s second consecutive win of the season.
Pant Fails Again
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant is currently under immense pressure—not only as the newly appointed captain but also as the most expensive buy in IPL history, having been picked up for a staggering INR 27 crore at the auction. So far, Pant has struggled to find his footing in both roles.
After a duck in the previous match, he managed just 2 runs off 5 balls this time around. Under his leadership, LSG have lost two out of their first three games, and the Haridwar-born cricketer will now be reflecting on the changes needed in both his approach and the team’s, aiming to score some runs personally and, more crucially, steer his side back to winning ways.
Iyer Shines Again
Punjab Kings brought in Shreyas Iyer as their new captain ahead of the 2025 season, banking on his proven leadership after he guided Kolkata Knight Riders to their third title in 2024. Hoping to replicate that success, the 2014 finalists placed their faith in the Mumbai-born star—and so far, he’s delivered. PBKS have now won both their matches this season, including today’s dominant eight-wicket victory with 22 balls to spare. Leading from the front, Iyer also contributed a crucial unbeaten half-century to seal the win in style.
Prabhsimran Singh Gives A Blistering Start
Prabhsimran Singh set the tone with a blistering start for Punjab. Despite an early setback, the chase looked well within reach thanks to the explosive performance from their star opener. Prabhsimran went on an all-out attack, smashing a 34-ball 69 at a strike rate of 202.94, finding boundaries all around the Ekana Stadium on Monday. His knock, laced with nine fours and three towering sixes, included a crucial 84-run stand with skipper Shreyas Iyer, effectively turning the chase into a mere formality before his dismissal.
IPL Match 14 : RCB Vs. GT
Match 14 of the ongoing Indian Premier League saw Gujarat Titans cruise to an eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 2. This emphatic victory marked GT’s second-largest win while chasing in IPL history.
GT mastered the chase with a composed performance, despite the pitch at Chinnaswamy not being the most batting-friendly. The visitors kept their wickets intact and made smarter use of their batting resources, crossing the finish line with 13 balls to spare. This marked RCB’s first defeat of the IPL 2025 season.
RCB’s Middle Order & Liam Shines
Liam Livingstone had been going through a rough patch leading up to the match, struggling not just in the IPL but across white-ball cricket, with no half-centuries in his last nine innings. However, he turned things around with a composed and timely knock. After a quiet start, he made the most of his time at the crease, finishing with a crucial 54. The standout moment of his innings came in Rashid Khan’s final over, where Livingstone unleashed his power, smashing three towering sixes off the leg-spinner.
Siraj With A Match Performing Performance
For the first time after seven long seasons with RCB, Mohammed Siraj returned to the Chinnaswamy Stadium—this time as an opponent. Showing no signs of nerves, he made an immediate impact by dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and then Phil Salt. Siraj capped off his spell brilliantly by removing Liam Livingstone in the penultimate over, conceding just four runs in that over and finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 19 from his four overs.
Jos Butler’s fiery knock
Jos Buttler walked in to bat in the fifth over after skipper Shubman Gill’s dismissal and took his time to settle in, needing nine balls to hit his first boundary. But once he got going, there was no stopping the explosive wicketkeeper-batter. He unleashed a dominant display, smashing 73 off just 39 balls, including five fours and six towering sixes. With this knock, Buttler became only the third player in IPL history to score over 500 runs against a single opponent while maintaining both a 50-plus average and a strike rate above 150.
GT’s eight-wicket triumph marked the sixth occasion in the tournament where the chasing team emerged victorious.
IPL Match 15 : KKR VS. SRH
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a lukewarm start to their IPL 2025 campaign, but Thursday night, April 3, told a different story. In Match 15 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the hosts delivered a dominant all-round performance, even with the toss not going their way. Asked to bat first at a sparsely filled Eden Gardens, KKR didn’t get off to the most promising start, but what followed was a clinical display across all departments.
KKR suffered early setbacks with openers Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine falling by the third over, but their middle-order stepped up brilliantly to rescue the innings, guiding the team to a solid total of 200 for 6 in 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers in the first innings. However, SRH’s response with the bat was nothing short of a collapse. Struggling throughout the chase, they were bowled out for just 120, handing the Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR a commanding 80-run victory.
Raghuvanshi-Venkatesh steady the ship with crucial stand
After the early loss of both openers, skipper Ajinkya Rahane took charge with a few powerful strokes to shift the momentum. He scored a brisk 38 off 27 balls, including four towering sixes, before heading back to the pavilion.
From there, vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi took control, stitching together a vital partnership that guided the three-time champions to a commanding position. A late cameo from Rinku Singh provided the perfect finish, while SRH struggled to regain any control after the powerplay.
Abhishek-Travis dismissed without trouble
The threatening opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, known for their explosive starts, were dismantled early on. Vaibhav Arora made an immediate impact by removing Head with ease, and in the very next over, Harshit Rana delivered a beauty to dismiss Abhishek.
Ishan Kishan followed soon after without making a mark. While Heinrich Klaasen entertained the crowd with a lively cameo, it had little impact on the chase as wickets continued to tumble around him. His dismissal in the 15th over sealed SRH’s fate, turning the remainder of the match into a mere formality.
The Knights climb to four points
After four matches into the season, Rahane and his squad had faced their fair share of criticism, especially with questions raised about their use of home advantage. But with a dominant performance in both departments against SRH, KKR registered their second win of the season in style.
The victory was a much-needed boost, particularly after their underwhelming outing against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, where they looked far from competitive.
KKR notched up their second win of the season and appear to be hitting their stride. With momentum now on their side, the defending champions seem to be finding their rhythm at just the right time.
IPL Match 16 : LSG Vs. MI
Match 16 of the IPL 2025 season featured an exciting showdown between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 4. The high-stakes clash drew plenty of attention as the hosts looked to assert dominance on their home turf.
Powered by half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted a strong total of 203/8. Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya impressed with the ball, picking up a brilliant five-wicket haul to keep things in check. However, a late flourish from David Miller ensured LSG crossed the 200-run mark, giving them a solid total to defend.
March & Markram Delivers
Australia’s power-packed all-rounder Mitchell Marsh delivered a commanding performance in the powerplay, smashing 60 off just 31 balls. After being handed a lifeline early in his innings, Marsh capitalised in style, peppering the boundary with nine fours and two sixes in a fiery half-century.
Supporting him at the other end, Aiden Markram anchored the innings with a composed 53 off 38 balls. He shifted gears following skipper Rishabh Pant’s early dismissal, ensuring the momentum stayed with LSG. Later in the innings, Ayush Badoni added the finishing touches with a quickfire cameo of 30 off 19 balls, helping push the total past 200.
Hardik Pandya’s Stunning 5-Wicket Haul
Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya stole the spotlight with a sensational performance with the ball, becoming the first captain in IPL history to claim a five-wicket haul. He picked up crucial scalps, including the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram, turning the game in MI’s favour.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Pandya rose to the occasion, leading from the front and expertly mixing up his pace and variations to outfox the LSG batters. At one point, Lucknow looked poised to post a massive total of 225 or more, but Pandya’s timely strikes pulled things back and kept the score in check.
Suryakumar Yadav’s Fifty in 100th Match Not Enough as MI Fall Short
Marking his milestone 100th IPL appearance for Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav played a composed and fluent knock, but it ultimately went in vain as MI fell short in their chase. The innings began on a shaky note with Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton departing in the third over, leaving Mumbai in early trouble.
Youngster Naman Dhir stepped up with an impressive 46 off 24 balls, narrowly missing out on a well-deserved half-century. He shared a crucial 69-run stand with Suryakumar, who anchored the innings with finesse. However, just as Mumbai needed him to stay till the end, SKY was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the 17th over, with 52 runs still required.
The momentum dipped further for MI in the middle overs, with Digvesh Rathi’s tight spell choking the flow of runs. Despite the valiant efforts, Mumbai’s chase lost steam in the final stretch, allowing Lucknow Super Giants to clinch a thrilling win.
Tilak Retired Out, Hardik Falls Short as LSG Seal Thrilling Win Over MI
In a dramatic finish at the Ekana Stadium, Mumbai Indians’ late push led by Tilak Varma and skipper Hardik Pandya wasn’t enough to cross the finish line. With the chase slipping away, Mumbai made a bold call—Tilak, who was struggling to accelerate, was retired out to make way for Mitchell Santner. The tactical switch surprised many, as MI looked to up the ante in the death overs.
Needing 22 off the final over, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant entrusted Avesh Khan with the ball. Pandya began the over with a towering six, raising hopes of a last-over heist. However, he couldn’t find the boundary thereafter, and Mumbai fell short by 12 runs—handing Lucknow their first home win over MI in IPL history. Despite the loss, Hardik Pandya earned a slice of history earlier in the game by becoming the first captain in IPL to claim a five-wicket haul (5/36).
